Final Workshop

The final workshop of the PRIN 2022 SciK-Health project brings together the main findings achieved by the research team, presenting them across five thematic sessions. The event opens with institutional greetings and an introductory address by the Principal Investigator, followed by scientific contributions on the core themes of the project:
- Academic Health Science Centers in Italy: an analysis of the Italian context and the distinctive features of public AHCs, offering a comparative reading of organisational models and scientific performance.
- The SciK-Health Dashboard: presentation of the open-data platform for the multidimensional evaluation of Italian AHCs, focusing on bibliometric indicators, social and digital engagement, industrial innovation, clinical research activity, and funding capacity.
- Semantic Structures and Knowledge Connections in Health Research: exploration of semantic networks in Italian biomedical research, using topic modelling techniques and conceptual co-occurrence analysis.
- From Scientific Discovery to Financial Capitalisation: investigation of the linkages between scientific production and the patent system in the health sector, analysing knowledge connections between academic research and industrial innovation.
- Clinical Quality and Academic Health Centers: analysis of data from the National Outcomes Programme to evaluate the relationship between academic research activity and quality of care in Italian AHCs.
Workshop: SciK-Health – Scientific Knowledge in Health

This workshop marks a key milestone in the SciK-Health project, presenting the project website, data repository structure, and analytical framework. The event introduces the main performance indicators developed to evaluate Italian public Academic Health Science Centres across multiple dimensions: bibliometric impact, social and digital engagement, industrial innovation, clinical research activity, and funding capacity.
The workshop provides an overview of the data collection strategy, the structure of the relational database, and the preliminary design of the interactive dashboard. It also discusses dissemination strategies and outreach activities to maximize the project’s impact on research policy and decision-making.
